Welcome to Cubs & Chaos

Hey y’all, I’m Alycia! I’m a native Houstonian and mama bear to 3 wild little cubs and step mama to their big sissy. I’ve loved writing since the 1st grade. (I journaled literally every day of my high school years…I still have the huge stack of journals, but I’m mortified of what I might find so I can’t bring myself to open them back up 😂). Writing has always been therapeutic for me, and I’ve gotten the sweetest feedback about it throughout my life, so a few years ago I decided to start sharing my thoughts in a blog. (I know I was late to the game, but I’m doing it anyway because I enjoy it. 😉 )

Overall, I wanted to create a space where I could share my stories about the chaos of motherhood and provide 3 main types of inspiration for other mommies along their journeys:

  1. FUN inspo! From baby-styling tips to family photo ideas, kid-friendly activities, and all the other fun things in between. You know, everything aspiring mamas dumped into Pinterest boards for years before we even started having kids (…that wasn’t just me right? 👀😬)
  2. REAL inspo. I think sometimes we feel bad if we don’t portray motherhood as this beautiful walk in the park. Some days it feels that wonderful, but other days it’s HARD and it helps to be reminded about how that’s normal and okay. (I’ve got plenty of those reminders for you! 🙋🏾‍♀️) From the initial harsh realities of realizing these sweet little ones have changed your life forever, to crying about why your 2 year old still isn’t using sentences or your 18 month old isn’t walking…to REJOICING when they both surprise you with those first sentences and first footsteps! I want readers to get lost in stories they can relate to when they really need the affirmation that they’re not alone in the struggles of the bad days, and on those days I want to give them hope and reassurance. On the better days, I want to celebrate and share the little (and big!) joys of motherhood that mommies truly appreciate — the ones that give us that warm feeling and remind us of why we love this job so much!!
  3. SELF-care inspo. This one is very important!! As mama bears, it can be easy to get so consumed with raising our babies that we lose ourselves. We begin to identify as “soccer moms”, “cheer moms”, or *just* moms. Motherhood is an AMAZING aspect of who we are, but it isn’t the only thing defines us as individuals —please don’t forget that! I want to encourage mamas to continue to nurture and pursue the other passions in their lives as well…even if it’s something as simple as remembering you always wanted to learn to salsa dance so carve out some time and take those classes…you deserve it, get out there and DANCE WOMAN! 💃🏽

When I 1st started this little blog I was only 3 years into my journey, then I took a break to have another little cub, and somehow I’m now 6 years into this motherhood thing! I still I have sooo much to learn but so much to enjoy as well, and I look forward to sharing both. 🤎
So, welcome and thank you for joining me on this crazy ride. Whether you’re laughing or crying with me I hope you leave each encounter with me feeling relieved, uplifted, and inspired, ready to conquer the next day of motherhood.

Let’s do this. 😉
